Keurig K-Cup Coffee Pods Recalled for Contamination Risk
Some lots of New Mexico Piñon Coffee may become contaminated with ink from the label during brewing.

New Mexico Piñon Coffee is recalling some single-serving dark roast K-Cups, according to a letter posted by the company. The affected coffee was sold nationwide.
A report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) indicated that the lids of the affected K-Cups were not properly sealed during manufacturing. As a result, some K-Cups may leak food-safe ink into the coffee when exposed to the high-temperature, high-pressure water used by Keurig machines for brewing.
This is a Class III recall, meaning the recalled coffee pods are unlikely to cause negative health effects. The company said it had not received any reports of illness or injury related to the recall.
The K-Cup recall includes one lot of 10-count boxes of New Mexico Piñon Coffee Dark Piñon Single Serve coffee pods. The recalled packages have the lot code “251749.”
No other New Mexico Piñon Coffee products are affected by this recall.
The letter advised people to either throw the recalled K-Cups away or return them to where they were purchased for a refund.
